Story Time: All Bodies are Good Bodies

“All Bodies Are Good Bodies” (https://youtu.be/nxLl6r6Wu-k)

This week’s storytime is “All Bodies are Good Bodies” By Charlotte Barkla. This story explores all the different ways that our bodies are unique and different from others! By talking about eyes, skin color, hair types, and body ability, children will get a sense of how we are all unique and special in our own ways!

Learning about diversity and self love and acceptance is so important for the emotional development of children. When a child has confidence in themselves and their body, children are more likely to take on new challenges and help them know that they are valued and appreciated!

Discussion Questions:

  1. What makes you different from others?

  2. What do you love about your differences?

  3. What are your favorite features?

  4. What is one thing that you are good at?

  5. What is a goal of yours?

  6. What is something unique about you?

  7. What are some unique features about your friends?

Activity:

Read aloud these affirmations when you wake up and when you go to bed! How do you feel afterwards? What are some affirmations that you could add?

Activity 2:

Make a gratitude jar! Write down things that make YOU unique and special! Put them in the jar and read them when you need a reminder of how AMAZING you are!
